Downtown Dandy
Downtown Dandy is a project about street fashion, extending and pushing my fashion photography by working with cohesive men of color. Growing up the eldest with four brothers, I have always felt comfortable around them, from bossing them around to being overprotective whenever someone tries to denigrate them. I would give them fashion advice and style their hair before going out. In Downtown Dandy, I began to broaden and constrain myself at the same time, exploring creative ways to show fashion through portraits in different locations using male models. As I photographed this series about street fashion, I've focused more on subtle details that impact the viewer, namely facial expressions, natural posses, accessories, ethnicity, etc. As a more reserved, introverted person, I tend to make subtle statements about what I believe and this series exemplifies that characteristic of mine.
